They are one of the least restrictive states when it comes to vehicle modifications.

Colorado happens to be a bit vague when it comes to vehicle modification laws. Regarding suspension change, the law states that the original design of the manufacturer cannot be changed, it is assumed that an elevator is acceptable as long as the type of suspension remains the same, which means that leaf spring vehicles must remain suspended from leaf. Nebraska has no laws limiting suspensions or modifications. There are also no laws that prescribe a frame height or impact height restriction. Residents are allowed to install aftermarket bumpers, tires, wheels and grill guards. In North Dakota, there is a maximum suspended lifting height of 4 inches. In addition, the body of the vehicle must not exceed 42″ and the bumpers have a maximum height of 27 inches. Increased suspension height can affect the life of chassis and powertrain components, and while larger diameter tires – especially construction tires for light commercial vehicles (LTs) – can have significant off-road benefits, they have a negative impact on low-end transmission and fuel efficiency to some extent. Bumper heights for vehicles under 4,500 GVWR must not exceed 24 inches at the front and 26 inches at the rear, bumpers for vehicles under 4,501 to 7,500 must not exceed 27 inches at the front and 29 inches at the rear, bumpers 7,501 and over have a bumper limit of 28 inches at the front and 30 inches at the rear, and car and SUV bumpers should not exceed 22 inches at the front and rear. Suspended lifts are allowed and outriggers are mandatory.
