Figures 269 to 271 are random combinations of a loop with a tent arc. [page 66] Figures 272 to 276 combine a loop and a simple pivoting or central pocket loop. Figure 277 combines a loop and a double loop. Figure 278 combines a loop and a simple arc to classify it as a loop. Figure 279 combines a loop and a tent arch. The transparent tape with a durable adhesive surface is available in widths from 1″ to 2″ for working on fingerprints. The usual variant of transparent adhesive tape is not suitable due to the deterioration (drying) of the adhesive surface. Printing on a piece of transparent adhesive tape is in the right position. Transparent elevators should be placed on a smooth, grainy and opaque background of a black or white color that contrasts with the powder used. Every effort should be made to avoid air bubbles under such elevators. In no case should a transparent elevator ever be folded on itself or glued to another piece of such tape as a support, since it is usually not possible to determine the correct position of such pressure. Figure 328 consists of two distinct loop ridge formations that face each other on the same side of a common delta.
This model cannot be called a double loop because there is no second delta formation. To locate the core, the two loop burrs should be treated as a loop with two rods in the middle. Thus, the core is placed on the distant pole (actually on the left shoulder of the distant loop), which gives a number of ridges of four (Fig. 49). From time to time, the FBI is invited to conduct investigations and attend conferences and police academies on the issue of fingerprint identification. In cases where the layout is pending, a separate 3 x 5 inch layout file can be kept. On these cards, information on the name, fingerprint number, race, gender, charge, name of the officers who made the arrest and the classification of the fingerprints must appear. These cards are stored in a pending layout file. 3 x 5 inch layout cards are made at the time of taking the person`s fingerprints. When the final disposition is reached, it must be noted on the map.
In cases where there is only one fingerprint card in the office, the layout may be noted on the name card or on the back of the office fingerprint card. In cases where a jacket folder file exists for the person, this layout card can then be placed in the folder. In addition to the photographic material, the necessary materials are: a 1-inch wide Roll of Scottish Photo Book to sketch out the fingerprint areas on the negatives to be used; somewhat rigid cardboard about 1/32 inch thick, on which prepared cards can be mounted; a rubber cement tube; and a bottle of translucent ink, except in black or white. The double loop consists of two separate loop formations with two separate and different sets of shoulders and two deltas. The easiest camera to handle and use, specially adapted to the intended use, is the fingerprint sensor, one of the types of which is shown in Figure 424. This camera has several advantages when photographing fingerprints: where two crests of the fingerprint intersect to form an X-paternity. When a ridge breaks into two parts and reconnects in one shortly after. It looks like an oval or an eye. A short ridge in the fingerprint looks like an island.
This part of a fingerprint looks like a hook from another crest. Over a period of 12 months, the FBI`s Identification Division received fingerprints [Pg 132] of 1,708 unknown deaths. Of these, 1,298, or nearly 76 per cent, were identified. The other 410 were not identified simply because the fingerprints of these individuals were not in FBI records. It should be noted that in these 1,708 cases, it was possible to secure the legible fingerprints of the deceased in the usual way by coloring the fingers in cases where the decomposition had not violated the detail of the comb. An examination of the fingers may reveal that the outer skin is hardened and partially detaches from the flesh. Sometimes it is possible to remove this intact outer skin by turning it back and forth. When this happens, the operator can place the skin on his own finger, ink and print in the usual way. As the office grows, it will be a source of a lot of convenience to store the fingerprints of men and women in separate files. The bifurcation is also called the ridge bifurcation. In biometrics and fingerprint scanning, bifurcation refers to the point of a fingerprint where a comb splits to form two ridges.
The last thing: It is of course desirable to have a certain order or order of storage of prints in divided groups. This order is obtained using the final, which is based on the number of burrs of the loop in the right little finger. It is given to the far right of the counter in the classification. Note Figure 352. If no loop appears in the right little finger, a loop can be used in the left little finger. It is then displayed on the far right of the denominator (Fig. 353). If no loop appears in the little fingers, a vertebra can be used to obtain a final that counts from the left delta to the nucleus when it is in the right hand, and from the right delta to the nucleus when it is in the left hand. If there are two or more nuclei (this usually applies to accidental vortices), burr counting is done from the left delta (right hand) [Sg 95] or the right delta (left hand) to the core, which is the least number of burrs away from this delta.
An exception is made in the case of the double loop. The double loop is counted from the delta to the heart of the vertical loop. If the loops of a double loop are horizontal, the nearest core is used. If both little fingers are a or t, no final is used. The use of a vortex in a little finger for a finale is only required in conjunction with a large group or collection of prints, such as the 32 out of 32 primary prints. It is important that the office has complete information on the final decision on each arrest fingerprint card. If the disposition of a fee is known at the time the person`s fingerprints are taken, this fact must be indicated in the field provided for that purpose on the fingerprint card. For example, in the case of a person who is arrested, whose fingerprints are taken and who is handed over to the county jail, this order may be indicated on the fingerprint card, which is sent to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The fingerprint card should not be kept by the office until the final decision on the indictment.
Figure 142 is a loop formation that is connected to the delta but has no number of burrs on a loop ridge. By drawing an imaginary line of the core, which is located at the end of the stem in the middle of the pattern, at the delta, it is determined that there is no recurring comb running between this stem and the delta; and therefore no number of burrs can result. This pattern is classified as a tent arch. There must be a white space between the delta and the first crest counted, or it must not be counted. Figure 143 is also a tent arch, as no number of burrs can be obtained on a loop comb, with the bifurcations connected to each other and [Pg 41] to the straight line loop between the delta and the core. The snake comb is not crossed freely. There is no white space between the delta and the loop.
