In business accounting, margin refers to the difference between revenues and expenses, with companies typically tracking their gross profit margins, operating margins, and net profit margins. Operating profit margin takes into account base costs and operating costs and compares them to sales, and net profit margin includes all such expenses, taxes and interest.
